Les trois Mousquetaires
With a lifelong passion for photography and being the middle of four generations of creatives, I always feel extremely proud photography is firmly embedded in my DNA. I was born with a camera in my hand. My childhood was spent with creativity all around me - sewing, painting, cutting and pasting and my upbringing in film, piles of negatives, a red Box Brownie camera and the smell of the darkroom are responsible for my deep, continued interest in shooting film and traditional printing and exploring historic processes. Time in the darkroom is hugely important to me.
To my fuel vision, I spent quality time at the Manchester School of Art and University of Gloucestershire studying the three disciplines of Art, Design and Photography, culminating with degree in Graphic Design and an MA in Fine Art and papers written on Colour Psychology – all of which continue to feed into my work today. During this time I refined my love of minimalism. I now work with paint, collage and Medium and Large format cameras. I’ve been making Cyanotype prints since the 1990’s and started silver printing 15 years before that. Through these I explore Traces of Home and how we like to adorn them with treasure brought home
