Les trois Mousquetaires
FILM PHOTOGRAPHER | DARKROOM DWELLER
With a lifelong passion for photography and being the middle of three generations of film photographers, I always feel extremely proud photography is firmly embedded in my DNA. I was born with a camera in my hand. My upbringing in film, piles of negatives, a red Box Brownie camera and the smell of the darkroom are responsible for my deep, continued interest in shooting film and traditional printing and exploring historic processes. Time in the darkroom is hugely important to me.
To my fuel vision, I spent quality time at the Manchester School of Art and University of Gloucestershire studying the three disciplines of Art, Design and Photography, culminating with degree in Graphic Design and an MA in Fine Art and papers written on Colour Psychology – all of which continue to feed into my work today. I work with Medium and Large format cameras. I’ve been making Cyanotype prints since the 1990’s and started silver printing 15 years before that.
An ongoing story…
My work and teaching philosophies are influenced by Japanese Aesthetics and this has produced my signature aesthetic - intentional, minimal, quiet..
