An award winning Visual Artist based just outside Oxford, my work explores the beauty and strength of nature’s shapes, forms and colours across photography, painting and collage.  I am particularly drawn to the relationship between flowers and the vessels in which we bring nature into our homes - the simple, everyday forms that hold, frame and transform our experience of the natural world.

Working with medium and large format cameras, I photograph flowers in their simplest forms, sometimes set against stark black or white backgrounds and sometimes arranged in vessels. These become studies in line, silhouette, light and shadow - quiet, sculptural images that invite a slower way of looking and reveal the character of both the flower and the vessel that holds it.

In my painting and collage, I explore shape and form through a more intuitive, colour driven process. Using paint, paper and print, I build bold, balanced compositions inspired by abstract forms and the geometric shapes of everyday vessels. These familiar objects, often associated with bringing flowers and elements of nature into our homes, become a starting point for exploring the interplay of form, colour and space.  Monoprinting, mark-making and collage allow the work to evolve organically, with each piece informing the next. Negative shapes, fragments and offcuts are retained and reworked, becoming the starting point for new compositions.

My choice of colour is informed by my studies into Colour Psychology at under and post grad level.

Across both photography and mixed-media work, I am interested in reduction, arrangement and the unexpected relationships between shape and space. Whether through the quiet simplicity of a flower on film or the layered energy of paint, paper and print, I explore how familiar forms — found in nature and in the objects we choose to live with — can be transformed into something abstract, considered and new.
